    Why it Works
    • CBD can reduce the effects of cortisol (the main stress hormone) on the brain. This increases the body’s resistance to stress which helps relaxation, and increases the brain’s ability to release serotonin and melatonin - key hormones needed for restful sleep.

    • Helps regulate your sleep cycle and deal with stress hormones (including cortisol + excess adrenaline) which cause disruption in your sleep-wake cycle when they are out of balance.     • Naturally high in melatonin - a hormone produced in the brain which helps regulate your sleep cycle. Montmorency cherries are high in enzymes known to reduce the effect of insomnia. 

    • Can increase the production of dopamine and serotonin in the brain, which play key roles in mental wellbeing, and maintaining a regular and restful sleep cycle. L-Theanine has also been found to increase non-rapid eye movement sleep (NNREM) which is a stage of deep sleep where the body and brain recovers the most.

    • CBD stands for cannabidiol, and it is one of the main active ingredients in cannabis. CBD has been known for a long time, first being discovered way back in 1940, though research into its effects has only just started taking place. In many places, the active ingredient within the cannabis plant, CBD, is legal while the cannabis plant itself still remains illegal. This varies based on where you are, and we’ll discuss more about CBD’s legal status in the UK and in the rest of Europe later on.

    • The scientific certainties behind CBD have not yet been concluded. However, a vast range of studies, as well as significant anecdotal evidence suggests the wide reaching benefits of CBD. In the case of people with insomnia, their peaks are typically at night before bed. Some studies have shown that CBD consumption can help reduce the levels of cortisol that people have.
