It's more than Sport.

At Puresport we believe in the power of sport to change lives. Sport transforms us, pushes us beyond our perceived limits and inspires a sense of community. We want to help more people discover the power of sport.

In our most recent article on The Run Down, we introduced Greenhouse Sports, a London charity that uses the power of sport and mentoring to change young people's lives.  Next week, we'll also hear from two Greenhouse Sports mentors Taner and Justin about their own stories about the influence of sport on their lives, and what has led them to pay that experience forward through their work at Greenhouse.

For the young people supported by Greenhouse Sports, sport is a way to build resilience, gain confidence, and develop skills that extend far beyond the playing field. In London alone, 800,000 children live in poverty, and 1 in 5 leave school without even the most basic qualifications. Greenhouse Sports is working to change that by providing structured coaching and support for over 9,000 young people each year, ensuring that they have the tools they need to not only succeed in sport, but in life.

Our Pledge

We are proud to pledge a £10,000 donation to Greenhouse Sports. With this contribution, we aim to support the provision of vital resources, from essential sports equipment to training coaches who can inspire the next generation. To put it into perspective, just £10 could provide equipment for a session, £50 could fund a breakfast club sports class, and £150 could help train a Greenhouse Sports coach to lead sessions that build skills and confidence in young people. Instead of tying this donation to a percentage of our sales that puts the onus on you to spend more, we wanted to make an impact regardless of purchases made.

The Gift It Back Box

Alongside our donation, we're also excited about our "Gift It Back Box" campaign. We recently sent out these boxes to creators and influencers, asking them not only to receive this Black Friday, but to give back. Our ambassadors have been filling these boxes with new and lightly used athletic gear, accessories, and other items that they have in excess, which will be donated to Greenhouse Sports to help the young people they support. The aim is simple: to give these young people the tools they need to be part of something greater, to be part of a team.

On November 30th, we’re turning our Saturday run club into something even more meaningful. Together, we’ll carry the returned boxes and run them over to Greenhouse Sports.

Creating Real Impact

Last week, we attended a panel talk hosted by Greenhouse Sports, and one of the coaches shared a story that perfectly captures the importance of what we're doing together.
It was about a young boy, Maison*, who showed up to his first basketball session wearing a Morrisons supermarket t-shirt.When the Greenhouse Sports coach asked him why he didn’t have a sports top on, Maison explained that he only had one sports t-shirt, but his sister needed it for her P.E. class that day. So, he borrowed his dad’s old work t-shirt, because it was the closest thing he had to something he could play in.To us, this wasn’t just a story about a t-shirt. It was a reminder of the reality that so many young people face. The desire to be part of something, to play, to belong, but without the basic resources to feel prepared or confident. But Maison* still showed up, because being part of that session meant everything to him.

Puresport has the immense privilege of a platform that can amplify amazing charities like Greenhouse Sports. We hope by telling their story, we can inspire more people to support and get involved.
Thank you so much for all the support you've given so far, the incredible community we have is not lost on us. Every interaction, big or small, helps charities like Greenhouse increase awareness and do more incredible work with children who need it the most.

It's more than Sport.
